WLHA Board of Directors 11/20/08

Members present at the meeting held at Guiseppes – John Bogue, President; Colleen Brooks, Vice President; Wayne McKitrick, Treasurer; Debbie Clayton, Secretary; Ronnie Simmons, Director; Bryan Cobb, Developer Liaison.

Wayne McKitrick distributed the financial statement for the month ending 10/31/08.  The year to date and monthly financial statements were also reviewed.  The dollar amount of the annual association dues was discussed.  Bryan Cobb entered a motion to raise the association dues to $160 per year.  The motion was unanimously approved and accepted.

Wayne will be sending out the annual dues statements in January.  He also noted we need to start planning the annual meeting now.  It will be held the second Wednesday of April 2009.  The place of the meeting is yet to be determined.  It was discussed that we may hold the annual meeting at the Eastside Enhancement Center again in 2009.  We may also ask someone from the Dinwiddie County Administration to visit and discuss a topic of interest in the county.  Bryan Cobb has volunteered to take care of the task of securing the meeting place.

Bryan Cobb discussed the issue of golf cart usage in the neighborhood.  We have asked Donald Haraway to petition the Board of Supervisors regarding an exception for usage of golf carts in the neighborhood.  This would allow individuals to legally drive the golf carts around the neighborhood streets.

The annual Halloween trick or treat hay ride was discussed.  It has become a logistical problem.  We discussed having a “trunk or treat” for next year at the Marina area.  This would be a better fit for the neighborhood.

Ronnie Simmons questioned the additional assessment to the association dues which was made a couple of years ago for the improvement of the roads in the neighborhood.  This project was tabled due to it being outside of our scope of covenants.  At the annual homeowners meeting in the following April, the association membership voted to allow the assessment to remain in the association account.

The annual landscaping contract will come up for review at the end of 2008.  The contract renewal date is in April 2009.  Debbie Clayton will seek additional bids for the contract and bring it to the next BOD meeting in January 2009.

It was voted to skip the December meeting due to scheduling conflicts for everyone.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
