Board of Directors Meeting 6/26/08
The meeting was held at Giuseppe's Restaurant.
Present at the meeting: John Bogue, President;
Colleen Brooks, Vice President; Wayne McKitrick, Treasurer; Debbie
Clayton, Secretary; Ron Simmons, Director; Bryan Cobb, Developer
Liaison; Tom Prince, Guest.
Tom Prince of Nationwide Insurance was present to
discuss our insurance coverage the association currently has and to
review any changes which may need to be made to our coverage. We
discussed the cost basis of the light poles, the stone entrance walls,
landscaping, boat ramp, pier and dock. Our main objective is to make
sure we have adequate coverage to replace/repair any damage due to a
storm or other accident.
We also discussed the handicap entrance at the boat
dock. Do we need to have signage marking this area specifically for
handicap usage only. It needs to be decided what the association can do
to ensure the safety of individuals using the handicap entrance. What
amount is needed cover the homeowner’s association liability for the
handicap ramp? We should ensure the ramp is compliant with the building
code to cover our liability exposure. Debbie Clayton will bring OSHA
book to next meeting to investigate the code regarding access to
handicap ramps on boat docks.
The topic of a playground was discussed again. It
was determined this would be a tremendous liability to entertain a
playground in the common area.
A rack for canoe storage at the common area was
suggested by one of the homeowners. We determined this may be a good
idea. There would need to be a way to secure the canoes for the safety
of the homeowners and for security reasons. It was determined we could
probably have space for six canoes. Bryan Cobb will research the cost
of this project and report back at our next meeting.
Boat trailer parking at the common area (marina)
was discussed. Ron Simmons questioned if a trailer is sitting
overnight, should be have some type of parking permit to determine
ownership of the trailer. Overnight parking is not allowed at the
common area.
Wayne McKitrick brought up the issue of lengthening
the boat ramp by six to eight feet. We have tossed this idea around for
a couple of years. While the water is lower in the summer months, we
should go ahead and move forward with this project. It was voted and
approved on that we should do this work while the water is low. Wayne
said he would watch the water level.
Wayne distributed the financial statement for May
2008. He will have the statements posted quarterly on our website. It
was noted there was a refund of $200 by the County for the room rental
of the annual meeting. We were refunded this money because we had the
county co-op the meeting with us.
There are still two outstanding homeowner
association dues for 2008. All delinquent dues have been collected.
We decided we will have the newsletters issued
quarterly. Right now, we are already working on the Halloween event for
the neighborhood.
We discussed the signage for the front entrance.
We decided we would look for prices at a couple of other places before
making any decision.
Next meeting Thursday, July 17th at
Giuseppe's at 6 p.m.
