WLHA
Board of Directors Meeting 1/23/09
Members present at the meeting held at Giuseppe’s –
John Bogue, President; Colleen Brooks, Vice President; Wayne McKitrick,
Treasurer; Debbie Clayton, Secretary; Ronnie Simmons, Director; Bryan
Cobb, Developer Liaison.
Wayne McKitrick distributed the financial
statements for the month ending 12/31/08.
He also distributed the Waterford Landing 2008
Expenses spreadsheet for review by the Board. There were no items on
the expense reports in question at this time.
One of the items for discussion was the annual
meeting in April. The date has been set for Wednesday, April 8, 2009,
at the Eastside Community Enhancement Center at 6:30 p.m. We will need
to start working on the agenda for the annual meeting.
We have asked Donald Haraway to take the golf cart
issue to the Dinwiddie Board of Supervisors to check on getting an
exception for our neighborhood. This would allow driving of golf cards
on our neighborhood roads. The WLHA Board is planning to ask someone
who is knowledgeable on this topic at the annual meeting.
Wayne McKitrick questioned if anyone currently
serving on the WLHA Board would like to leave the board. We do have
some individuals who would like to leave their position. A nominating
committee needs to be appointed to suggest names for serving on the WLHA
Board for 2009. We actually need several committees to take care of
some of the projects in the neighborhood.
The rack for kayak and canoe storage at the marina
was discussed again. Wayne will delegate someone to gather information
on this topic and look for volunteers to carry this forward.
The landscaping contract for 2009 was discussed.
The Board reviewed the proposal by Walker Distribution Services (WDS).
It was voted by the Board to award the contract to WDS. They had the
contract previously and we were very satisfied with the work by WDS.
The contract had been awarded to another contractor due to price
increases over the years. WDS has submitted very competitive prices and
we decided to go back to this company based upon previous satisfaction
and services.
Ron Simmons brought up the item of pedestrian
safety in the neighborhood. There are many people who walk or run in
the evenings and early mornings in the area. Drivers and pedestrians
need to be aware of the neighborhood traffic. It was decided we should
post a notice on the website for all walkers/runners to be aware of the
neighborhood traffic.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday,
February 19th, at 6:30 p.m. at Giuseppe’s.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
