Waterford Landing Homeowner’s Association
Board of Directors Meeting 1/17/08
Meeting was held at the
home of Jimmie Davis.
Present at the
meeting: Jimmie Davis, President; Wayne McKitrick, Treasurer; Debbie
Clayton, Secretary; Bryan Cobb, Developer Liaison.
Wayne is gathering the
information sheets from neighbors for suggestions to present at the
annual meeting in April. There was a suggestion from a homeowner that
we have the county tax assessor attend the annual meeting and give a
short presentation. This presentation would be limited to 30 minutes in
length and will be arranged by Donald Haraway, member of the Dinwiddie
Board of Supervisors. The presentation will cover how tax assessments
are determined and the formula by which it is determined.
A suggestion for a cell
phone tower for wi-fi in our neighborhood was discussed. Bryan will get
in touch with a company who performs this service. This is an item for
presentation at the annual meeting. Bryan will gather the information
on this subject.
Jimmie discussed the wash
situation at the marina area where Southside Electric Coop installed the
lighting. It was decided we would address this with the landscape
contractor we are currently using. Jimmie suggested adding some crush
and run around the area of the light poles.
Wayne purchased file cabinets for WLHA
files. New bank signature cards had to be issued since the passing of
Jerry Nutter. Debbie Clayton’s name was added to the signature card on
file at the bank. The Board voted to open a 14 day renewable
certificate of deposit for $15,000. Wayne will take care of this item.
He would also like to open a second certificate of deposit for easy
access. Both certificates of deposit are with the Bank of Southside in
Dinwiddie.
Wayne updated the Board on the IRS
situation. The WLHA had not filed an income tax return in the last ten
years. It was determined the WLHA is required to file a return with the
IRS but not with the state of Virginia. Wayne will inform the Board at
the next meeting the amount of fine the association may required to
pay.
Jimmie discussed the signage at the
second entrance. It should be similar to the entrance signage off of
Oxford Drive into the neighborhood. Jimmie will contact the adjoining
homeowners about a right of way for the signage before the annual
meeting.
The Neighborhood Watch has suggested
several times that speed limit signs are needed on Whipponock Way and
Miry Run. Also, a “Children at Play” sign would be beneficial in this
area. The roads in this section are being taken in by the state
system. Bryan volunteered to ask VDOT about a sign until they take over
the roads in this section.
Meeting was adjourned
at 9:00 p.m. Next meeting is Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the home of
Jimmie Davis.
